You’ve been waiting for months for the day to arrive, and finally it’s here! The bags are packed, the fish are fed, the neighbours have been alerted and the taxi is booked for the airport. Your long awaited annual holiday to Turkey is about to begin. It may only be for a week, but that can be a long time in holiday land; and whether you want to spend your days relaxing in the sun expending no more effort than it takes to lift your margherita, or buzz around visiting every historical site within a 100 mile radius; villas in Turkey offer the perfect base from which to create your ‘perfect’ holiday.

Once you arrive at your villas in Turkey your week will stretch out before you like an enticingly empty diary. So just how should you plan to spend your time? Our suggestions may help you decide…

Sunday

By the time you’ve been driven from the airport and unpacked your bags, the first thing you’ll probably want to do is dive into that invitingly blue swimming pool, which almost comes without asking when you rent villas. In Turkey, although you will only be a hop, skip and a jump from the beach, sometimes you may prefer the quieter option of your private infinity pool. For your first evening, you may like to take a relaxing stroll in the town and enjoy your first taste of Turkish cuisine in a harbourside restaurant.

Monday

Ahh, your first real day of holidays. You’ll wake up to an amazing cloudless sky and, depending on where your villas in Turkey are, more than likely an incredible view of the Mediterranean straight from your bedroom window. What could be more idyllic? Today would be a great day to spend at the beach because, let’s face it, that’s the main reason you’re here! Pack your beach bag and take the short walk down to the beach to stake your claim. Beaches in Turkey are wonderfully well facilitated and you will be able to have a fun filled day of water sports like para sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, beach volleyball and anything else that takes your fancy.

Tuesday

Now that your villas in Turkey are starting to feel like home, perhaps it’s time to venture a little further afield and explore some history. No matter where in Turkey you choose to holiday, be it Kalkan, Kaz or anywhere else, you will never be more than a day trip away from some of the most important historical sites in Turkey – if not the world. Just a couple of hours away from coastal resorts in Turkey is the fascinating archaeological site of Ephesus. You can spend an entire day wandering through its ancient ruins and marveling at the relics of a long lost civilisation.

Wednesday

Today might be a good day to experience one of Turkey’s most enjoyable activities – a Gulet cruise. These traditional sailing boats will take you on a cruise up the magnificent Turkish Turquoise Coast, and they’ll take you in style. Although if you’ve already paid for accommodation in villas in Turkey you will only want to take a day trip, if you have more time or are feeling adventurous, you can stay on board these wonderful old boats and cruise for several days at a time….

Thursday

Ok, you’ve managed four days without a trip to a shop, so today, how about rewarding yourself with an excursion to a Turkish Bazaar? You can haggle for some wonderful colourful jewellery, or perhaps purchase that magic carpet you’ve always dreamed of owning…Top off your day with a visit to a hamam – a traditional Turkish spa – and you’ll feel like you’ve spent the day in Beverly Hills!

Friday

Although your holiday is drawing to a close, there’s still plenty of time to do all the things you want to. How about a horse ride along the beach, or a long rambling walk through the mountains behind the town? You’re sure to stumble upon some crumbling ruins and perhaps you’ll even be invited to lunch at a local farmhouse.

Saturday

Almost time to go home, but after you’ve packed your bags there’s plenty of time to visit the beach again. Go for a walk taking your last look at the azure Mediterranean, wiggle your toes in the pure white sands, and promise yourself you’ll be back again next year…
